You can create a dedicated Grub partition on your Windows drive and install Grub to that, but using Grub4DOS accomplishes the same thing without having to use another partition.

You originally said you wanted to put Grub on the same drive as Windows, so I was just suggesting a solution of simply putting Grub inside your Windows partition. I need to find a way to install Grub withouth using the Windows partition yet.
